  Holy Jumbo Marshmallow, Batman! One of our favorite sweet discoveries of the year is the fudge-covered marshmallows made by Momma Reiner. This fudge-making California mom took the next step in product development and dipped big, handmade marshmallows into her semisweet chocolate fudge—pure inspiration. Even without the fudge, the marshmallows are delicious; but together, a star is born. Classy snacks, one of these ample confections can stand in as a fancy dessert on a day when you don’t have time to think of doing more. But for sure, a box will brighten the day of the lucky possessor. While kids will go ape for the marshmallows, these are definitely adult-quality goodies. REVIEW: Zhena’s Gypsy Tea

Zhena’s gypsy tea recently won the Outstanding Packaging Award at Expo East, the eastern half of America’s largest natural and organic products show. Sure, the cans are great-looking, but the tea inside is equally noteworthy. First, this line of 30 tasty teas (the five we had were tasty, so we’ve given the rest the benefit of the doubt) is blended with fruit and flavor notes. Second, it hits a social responsibility trifecta of sorts—It’s organic, Fair Trade Certified and biodynamically-grown—and it’s kosher, too. (Read our article on the difference between organic and biodynamic farming.) Zhena donates a portion of the proceeds to C.E.O. Women, which helps low-income immigrant and refugee women succeed in entrepreneurship. RECIPE: Winetails ~ Wine Cocktails

Wine beverages have been around as long as wine.

Early recipes that mixed wine with fruit juice and honey evolved over time to more elaborate concepts such as mulled wine—a “wine cocktail” that’s a combination of red wine, Port, brandy, triple sec, brown sugar and a sheaf of spices (allspice, bay leaf, cinnamon sticks and cloves_.

Today’s trendy term is winetail, a mixed drink made with wine instead of spirits. (There’s also the beertail.)

When making wine cocktails, use popularly-priced wines—not complex bottles that should be enjoyed for their layers of flavor. The wines of Ecco Domani—solid, everyday drinking wines with good fruit—are a fine choice.

The company teamed with mixologist Alex Ott to create a series of “winetails” that can be enjoyed before dinner, after dinner or any time you’re relaxing with a glass of wine and want a little something extra.

Make the Canella Domani (canella is the Italian word for cinnamon) when the weather gets cold—it’s best served warm and is a refreshing change from spiced cider, so often served during autumn.
