Updated June 2026 Here’s something special for National Mimosa Day, May 16th. It’s a mash-up of the classic Mimosa with an Aperol Spritz. A Mimosa is equal parts brut Champagne and orange juice—ideally, fresh-squeezed. An Aperol Spritz is three parts Prosecco (a sparkling wine, as is Champagne) and two parts Aperol, a botanical liqueur easy to recognize from its bright orange color. > Recipe: Blood Orange Aperol Mimosa Elsewhere on The Nibble: > The three types of blood oranges. > More Mimosa cocktail recipes. > The history of Aperol, the Aperol Spritz, and the recipe. > The dfifferent types of sparking wine. > The year’s 10+ Champagne and other bubbly/sparkling wine holidays. > The year’s 100+ cocktail and spirit holidays. Blood oranges are delicious, but what if they aren’t in season? Squeeze Valencia or Navel oranges. 1. SHAKE with ice the first three ingredients. Strain into highball glass over fresh ice. 2. SLOWLY ADD Champagne to fill the glass. 3. GARNISH and serve. Cantera Negra tequilas are handcrafted in small-batch quantities from late-harvest blue agave. The distillery permits only time-honored, traditional production methods and the studied art of blending. | |
