Non-Sandwich BLT Recipes For National BLT Sandwich Month
A non-sandwich BLT? April is National BLT month, celebrating one of America’s favorite sandwiches. It descended from the club sandwich served in London men’s clubs. Here’s the history of the BLT. In recent times, people have enjoyed adding a slice of avocado to their BLTs. Hence, the BLAT was born (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato). Then came the BLAST, with avocado and smoked salmon. What’s next? How about a BLTS&T: a BLT Surf & Turf. We’d like some lobster on our BLT—and extra mayo, please. But you don’t have to make a sandwich to enjoy a BLT. Just check out the recipes below for non-sandwich BLT recipes. Plus, of course, we conclude with ways to vary a BLT sandwich so you can have a different one every day of the year. By the way, while April is National BLT Sandwich Month, July 22nd is National BLT Day. That’s two days of the year to cook up these recipes! Cocktails |
