Fans of the Gourmet Giveaway know that our gourmet food giveaway went on hiatus in February, as we were building its new home on TheNibbleGourmetMarket.com.

The Gourmet Giveaway is back, with three gift baskets from Chef Wolfgang Puck.

All you need to do is enter your email address. To enter, go to TheNibbleGourmetMarket.com, scroll down, and click the box right underneath the shopping cart.

The gift basket is filled with Chef Puck’s Signature Tortilla Soup—which we’re going to enjoy again on Cinco de Mayo—plus other gift items from Chef Puck.

The Wolfgang Puck soup line is delicious, certified organic and has several gluten-free choices. You know from the first taste that you’re dealing with top-quality ingredients.

You can purchase the Wolfgang Puck soup line at fine retailers nationwide and online.

We liked the three varieties we tried—Classic Minestrone, Signature Tortilla and Tomato Basil Bisque—so much that we can’t wait to try the rest of the 17 varieties of soups, including Creamy Butternut Squash, French Onion, Old Fashioned Potato, Roasted Red Pepper with Tomato, Thick Hearty Vegetable and Vegetable Barley.

The gluten-free soup varieties include Black Bean, Hearty Lentil Vegetable, Free Range Chicken With White And Wild Rice, Signature Tortilla and Tomato Basil Bisque. See the full list.

MOTHER’S DAY IDEAS: Gourmet Gifts

There are just six shopping days left until Mother’s Day.

Still stuck for a special gift idea?

Take a look at these luscious gifts: beautiful chocolates, cakes and, for yoga moms, gingerbread cookies in yoga positions.

  • If Mom prefers her chocolate in small bites, Intemperantia Chocolate makes petite chocolate truffles in addition to regular sizes.
  • And we just love the chocolate caramel pretzels from Artisan Candies.
  •
For a no-calorie delicious gift, try some tea samplers and a glass teapot.

  • Healthy gifts include custom juice blends and gorgeous jars of imported Cerignola olives.
  • For the casserole-making Mom, a casserole carrier with a choice of glamorous fabric tote covers might just make her day.
  •
All of this is making us hungry. Time for a snack!

    PRODUCT: Bobby Sue’s Nuts

Dry roasted and seasoned, we’re hooked on
Bobby Sue’s “Some Like It Hot” nuts.

A reader recently directed us to Bobby Sue’s Nuts, calling them the best nuts she’d ever had.

While we’ve tried far too many brands of nuts to make that pronouncement, Bobby Sue’s is certainly up there in the Best Hot & Spicy Nuts category.

All three varieties of Bobby Sue’s Nuts are quite nice if you like a dry-roasted style of mixed nuts that are very crunchy.

  • Original is a savory style with a barely-there touch of sweetness and just a hint of cinnamon.
  • It’s Raining Chocolate’s drizzle of dark, milk, and white chocolate is not enough of a chocolate fix for us, but the light cinnamon flavor is lovely.
  • Some Like It Hot, our favorite, adds a level of sizzle similar to a medium-heat salsa with a long, long finish. We enjoy them straight from the jar or nut dish, tossed into salads or atop ice cream (we love the hot-and-cold effect).
  •
While the products are not organic-certified (an expensive undertaking), the ingredients–including almonds, cashews, pecans, sugar, egg whites and spices, plus water and salt–are all organic.

Bobby Sue’s Nuts can be purchased online in 8-ounce jars for $12.00. The Original flavor is also available in 2-, 16- and 32-ounce sizes from $3.75 to $36, at BobbySuesNuts.com.

Think of them for poker and bridge games and as small gifts and stocking stuffers.

A percentage of each sale goes to the local SPCA shelter.

TIP OF THE DAY: Cinnamon Toast

Did your mom make you cinnamon toast on school days or weekends?

Ours did, and we can still smell and taste each piece that she lovingly sprinkled with her blend of sugar and cinnamon – a blend she premixed and stored in the type of specialty jar also used to sprinkle grated cheese.

Every morning, it was only two shakes from plain buttered toast to festive cinnamon toast. It’s like a streamlined cinnamon bun.

Use your favorite bread. We’d say go for whole wheat bread, but raisin bread, multigrain, challah and of course, plain white bread work equally well.

    1. Mix 2 tablespoons of white sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
    2. Toast the bread, lightly butter it and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar.

This comfort food is a delight at breakfast or brunch, or as a snack with afternoon tea (or milk for the kids). And it has far fewer calories than a breakfast pastry, muffin or piece of cake.

    PRODUCT: Lychee White Tea

Fragrant and luscious, this tasty tea
needs no added sugar. Photo courtesy
    Choice Organic Tea.

The lychee (pronounced LIE-chee, not LEE-chee, after the Chinese lai chi) is one of the most popular fruits in Southern China. The evergreen grows wild in southern China, northern Vietnam and Cambodia, although there is evidence that it has been cultivated since around 2000 B.C.E.

Lychee tea is highly esteemed in China. Following an ancient process, tea leaves are infused with the succulent juice of the lychee. The lychee is also a symbol of beauty. This tea has delicate woody overtones with a hint of sweet lychee flavor.

Alternative spellings include lichee, litchi and other variations.

We’ve been enjoying Lychee White Tea from Choice, a line of tea that is certified organic and Fair Trade Certified.

Blended with the exotic flavor of lychee fruit and osmanthus flowers, the tea is lush and aromatic. It’s a beautiful tea to drink plain, without sweetener. The lychee supplies its own delicate sweetness, and the tea can be enjoyed hot or cold.

Choice Lychee White Tea is available online.
