CONTEST: Gr8 Am. Txt Stry Contest

You could win a year’s supply of NewTree Chocolate!
Like chocolate? Like to write? Like texting? You could win a new Apple iPhone 3G and a year’s supply of chocolate in NewTree Chocolate’s Gr8 Am. Txt Stry Contest (Great American Text Story Contest). Inspired by the popularity of cell phone text novels in Japan, this short story contest requires that all entries be submitted via cell phone text message. The stories can be up to 1,500 words and must incorporate all 11 NewTree chocolate names: Blush, Cocoon, Crave, Forgiveness, Pleasure, Refresh, Rejoice, Renew, Sexy, Tranquility and Vigor. To enter the contest, fill out the form at newtree.com/contest.php. Entrants will receive a text message with instructions about submitting their stories. The deadline for submission is 8 p.m. E.T. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2008. The winner will be announced on Oct. 13, 2008. The grand prize is a year’s worth of NewTree chocolates—one chocolate bar a day for 365 days—and an Apple iPhone 3G.

RECIPES: Peanut Butter Sandwiches

Last fall, The J.M. Smucker Company, maker of Jif peanut butter, held its sixth annual “Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich” contest for kids, with college scholarship awards. The 2008 contest launches on August 14 and runs through November. Rules can be found on Jif.com. Even though the creators of these sandwiches are all under the age of 13, adults will enjoy them, too. Even better, they make a wonderful adult-child cooking activity. Amaze your family with one of these fun, award-winning recipes:

Recipe 1: Crunchy Chinese Fortune Cookie Sandwich

Recipe 2: P-Nutty Chicken Wrap

Recipe 3: Peanut Butter Butterfly Panwiches

Recipe 4: Peanut Butter Club Sandwich

Recipe 5: Peanut Butter Monstwich

Wowie zowie: These PB sandwiches have
been reinvented as “fortune cookies”
filled with PB, apples and celery, with an
Asian-style peanut dipping sauce.

RECIPES: Presidential Candidate Cocktails

Call it “True Blue” if you wish, but the
official name for this cocktail is Barack
Rocks.
What are you planning to serve guests when you watch the Democratic and Republic National Conventions? Raise a glass to your favorite with these two recipes. Better yet, be bipartisan and enjoy both cocktails!

Regardless of your choice of commander-in-chief, you can vote for the cocktail of your choice with these Presidential Candidate Cocktails from SKYY Spirits.

Celebrate the 2008 Democratic and Republican presidential nominees thanks to SKYY, as you sip on a Barack Rocks or a McCain Straight Up, from now through November. If the candidate of your choice wins, you’ve got a drink going for at least four years.
